Urge Congress to enforce Animal Cruelty Laws In the US
The Issue
Over the past few years, the number of reported animal neglect cases involving cows and pigs has dipped slightly.
In 2007, there were 20 reported neglect cases involving cows and eight involving pigs, down from 33 cow neglect cases and 11 pig neglect cases in 2006, and 26 cow neglect cases and nine pig neglect cases in 2005.
While the commercials aren't displayed often, the animal abuse images are enough to get a grown man crying. as a pet owner I know what's it's like to raise various animals, and to imagine someone hurting their pet greatly troubles me. Why would someone hurt and innocent animal?
The number of animal cruelties reported each year has increased yet, many are still left without help. Fortunately, many people become heroes with a simple call. Like in "Little Man's" case an anonymous maintenance man had reported a dog kennel covered with a blanket in a basement. This "miracle dog" was found locked in a cage in it's own feces and unable to walk due to sores on his feet. Because of these simple actions you could potentially save a life. For reasons like this we encourage you to take an even further step to ensure these animals are safe.
We ask for you to sign this petition in order to show your support. As well as urging congress to enforce animal cruelty laws in order to bring justice to the neglected.
Each year, thousands of animals are abused and neglected, but very few are ever saved and those who are, don’t get justice for their abuser. The majority of these agonizing cases throughout the United States are never reported, leaving the cases go unacknowledged and unabated.Animal cruelty is defined as either the deliberate abuse or harm to an animal or simply the failure to provide basic care and needs of an animal; neglect. Neglect can include lack of food, water, shelter or vet care, the basic necessities in order to remain alive.Animal Abuse is one of the world’s most overlooked problems which must be recognized, especially since it involves the abuse of another being with the inability to defend themselves. In 2007 alone 1,880 animal abuse cases were reported. Of those cases 1,212 were abuse on dogs, 337 were reports of abuse on cats, and 470 were cases involved other animals. 25% of the cases on dogs were reported to have been pitbulls. The abusers in most of these cases are emotionally unstable or hostile and tend to do unthinkable acts, some which have included beating, shooting, or stabbing animals to death, or in some cases even igniting live animals. More often than not, these people unleash their rage on animals, as well as their own families.
