It has been a number of years since the community of GMM (Embalenhle, Bethal, Secunda, et.) has been experiencing unscheduled & municipality induced daily power outages.

The outages go on for days often resulting in rotting of foodstuff and disabling the community from accessing basic human needs like bathing and cooking. The community has had numerous promises to solve the problem including building of a new substation which was supposed to have been completed late 2019. To this day, there has not been any tangible progress of the project whilst the community continues to experience unreasonable outage periods regularly and in return, receive endless excuses from the municipality.

The outages has to stop immediately and the municipality must provide a new feasible and sustainable plan to ensure the remediation of this problem.
