The students of Goulburn Valley Grammar School (GVGS) are petitioning to preserve their traditional form of the Presentation Ball.

Annually, the Goulburn Valley Grammar School Presentation Ball is every student's introduction to society, it is an enjoyable experience in a grown-up setting. The school has now altered the rules of the ball, changing its traditional format. Partner groups have been scrapped, a focus on groups of awkward threes has been put forward, more emphasis has been placed on group dancing. These changes have been introduced without the consultation of the student body, thus totally ignoring the student voice that the school community claims to hold necessary for the proper functioning of the school.

There is an urgent need for the school leadership to consult the student body. This petition is calling on the school decision-makers to listen to student opinion, in the spirit of consultation and respect, and to act accordingly.

We, the students, care about our Presentation Ball, and its traditional rules, as much as we care about the spirit of our motto, traditionally rendered in Latin.

Your support is needed to persuade the school leadership to reverse these changes.
