Stop Normalizing Chismis, Mind Your Own Business

Stop Normalizing Chismis, Mind Your Own Business
The Issue
Did you ever thought how many people despise you because of how others describe you to them? It is obviously inappropriate to gossip about another person's life. As an individual, imagine that you are the main topic of a group of people who are discussing false information about you, what would you feel?
This petition aims to advocate people to stop this toxic practice of talking about someone’s life or gossiping.
Some people spread rumors in order to frighten others and achieve status or popularity. However, opening out rumors to turn people against someone is a type of bullying, and the individual who is the subject in so called “chismis” might face serious consequences. Spreading unpleasant gossips in person or online is not a decent and respectable behavior.
Unfortunately, when other individuals witness such behavior, they do not always speak up for what is right. They may become less cordial toward the individual being discussed out of fear of becoming the next target. It does not imply that they are unconcerned. Seeing someone else being bullied, in fact, makes others feel horrible.
We don't have to get along with everyone – or even like them. However, simply because you don't like someone doesn't give you the right to disseminate stories, gossip, or insults about them. Acting in this manner demonstrates a lack of courage. It's a deceptive method of gaining popularity or prestige in a group. It's their life, their decisions. They can do something wrong, but it's not for you to judge.
