We made it to over 2,300 supporters! I'm happy the community has come together so strongly against Gorillaz contributing to further devastation of the planet. Thanks so much everyone.
Today, 3/30/21 - 4 days after their announcement in NME that they'll be partnering with Superplastic to create NFTs and a short social media silence, Gorillaz posted again on their Facebook and Twitter ignoring our demand to pull out of production. But I want us to show them we won't give up. Please continue to share this petition, I want to shoot for over 3,000 signatures to really make some noise. If enough of us sign we can't be ignored! If you share this with ten or more people, the more support we'll get.
If you would like to show further support, here is a link to a pre-written message you can send to the CEO of Superplastic and Head of Gorillaz Digital Marketing demanding to stop production of NFTs. You can find more info about this in my previous update.
As I've said before, this petition won't close until a statement is released agreeing to stop production of NFTs and that the management team of Gorillaz and their label Warner Music Group will make marketing decisions in the future with the band's Earth conscious values in mind.
My message to Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett still stands: Plastic Beach and the meaning made in your art and music means so much to fans all over the world. So many are disappointed by this announcement. I'm hoping this petition makes its way to you and shows you that Gorillaz fans want better for our planet just as much as you do!
Thank you for reading!
