This petition is to show support to the Industrial Court of Queensland for the repeal of The Trading Hours Act 1990 to allow all shops in Queensland to open on Sunday.

Currently the new Woolworths supermarket in Gordonvale and all the associated shops within the centre (And yet to be built on the outside) are restricted to No Sunday trading due to a law passed in 1990 (Trading allowable hours act 1990). This effects very small pockets of Queensland and only 9 Woolworth Stores state wide (Gordonvale and Misson Beach Locally)

There is currently a moratorium on the creation and amendment of trading hours within Queensland which, at this stage, is due to end on 31 August 2022. This means that the Commission is not currently making any orders with regards to non-exempt shops.

We are looking for locals and people who pass through and use this new store to sign the petition in support of free trading hours to match the rest of cairns trading.
