Lexie Deng started this petition to Google

Hello fellow Australians and supporters of First Nations peoples

Please add your support to this petition if you want Google to fast track adding traditional place names to Google Maps!

Once traditional place names have been added to Google Maps, this will help raise awareness of the diversity of First Nations languages, peoples and the multiple 'nations' that make up Australia - here and across the world (for instance, when international visitors Google places to go).

The primary audience for this petition are the decision makers in marketing and the Google Maps team at Google HQ who decide which initiatives get prioritised.

The secondary audience for this petition is the press. We want as many people as possible putting pressure on Google to implement these changes quicker.

The final target audience is those in your social circles. By being curious as to the traditional place name of your home and encouraging that curiosity in others, we educate ourselves and move forward together.

4 other ways you can help:

1. Direct message this link to people you know personally who would back this cause but may not have heard about this petition yet

2. Get your workplace to add the traditional place name (and an acknowledgement of country) to their address on Google My Business, website and email signatures

3. Search for something on Google, scroll to the very bottom and hit the 'give feedback' button.

4. If you work with Google in any capacity (you may work at an advertising agency, you may be a business who has a Google rep, you may work at Google, you may have friends in the Google Maps product team at Google, your mum's best friend may work at Google!), please reach out to your contacts and help show that it's in Google's best interest to push this initiative forward faster. Just think of all the PR opportunities!

Thank you for taking the time,
Lexie
