In a commit made in May 2019 in Android Open Source Project (AOSP), Google could remove the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) backup and restore option from future Android versions.

Adb backup and restore can backup apps (apk) and its data. It allows you to save to the backup, data of apps, which you can't access directly on the smartphone, unless you have it rooted (rooting procedure is complicated, voids your warranty and could end up with a damaged phone).

This is a petition to Google to leave adb backup and restore mechanism in future Android versions.
