Dear Google Inc.
Assamese ( Ôxômiya) (IPA: [ɔxɔmija]) is the easternmost Indo-Aryan language. It is used mainly in the state of Assam in North-East India. It is the official language of Assam and one of the recognised languages by the government of India. It is also spoken in parts of Arunachal Pradesh and other northeast Indian states. It is spoken by over 20 million people and has 16.8 million native speakers (http://www.lisindia.net/Assamese/Assa_demo.html . Assamese as a spoken, written, and literary language has a rich history. However, that richness for various reasons is not well represented on the Internet. Due to an awareness campaign of several groups of supporter of the language, there is a remarkable change. The percentage of Assamese content on the Internet is increasing. There is a general tendency to assume that Assamese language is a subset of the Bengali language, which is 100% wrong. There is no basis for such an assumption.
I hereby request Google to include Assamese as optional language in its products and to develop automatic translation toolkit for Assamese language.
