Correct the Name: It’s Persian Gulf, Not Arabian Gulf – Google Must Respect History

For centuries, the body of water between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula has been known as the Persian Gulf. This name is recognized by the United Nations and appears in countless historical maps and academic sources.

Unfortunately, Google Maps has recently mislabeled this region with the inaccurate and politically motivated term “Arabian Gulf.” This misnaming is not only historically false, but also deeply offensive to millions of Iranians and those who respect cultural heritage.

We, the undersigned, call on Google to immediately correct this mistake and restore the historically and internationally recognized name “Persian Gulf” on its mapping services.🙏

Respect history. Respect truth. Respect identity.🙏

قرن‌هاست که پهنه آبی بین ایران و شبه‌جزیره عربستان با نام خلیج فارس شناخته می‌شود. این نام در اسناد سازمان ملل متحد، نقشه‌های تاریخی و منابع علمی معتبر به رسمیت شناخته شده است.

با این حال، گوگل مپ اخیراً این منطقه را با نام جعلی و سیاسی "خلیج عربی" نمایش داده است؛ اقدامی نادرست، تحریف‌کننده و توهین‌آمیز برای میلیون‌ها ایرانی و علاقه‌مندان به تاریخ.

ما امضاکنندگان این کمپین، از شرکت گوگل می‌خواهیم که فوراً این اشتباه را اصلاح کرده و نام واقعی و بین‌المللی خلیج فارس را در سرویس نقشه خود بازگرداند.🙏
