Prevent Burleigh from becoming the next Surfers Paradise.

Burleigh Heads is a unique and popular destination for locals and visitors to Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Burleigh’s foreshore is flanked by an avenue of Norfolk pines framed by two wooded headlands fronting a settled residential suburb with its own vibrant town centre and public facilities setting it apart from other beaches on the Gold Coast.

There has been a recent surge in property development applications incorporating features out of step with the existing residential built environment including; hotels, podiums and reduced setbacks from the Esplanade and neighboring properties.

Current and future development proposals need to comply with conventions around:

- how far the properties are setback from the pedestrian area

- separation distance between buildings and overall density

- not impact availability of public parking

They should aim to preserve Burleigh's unique residential feel while ensuring ease of access to all who enjoy the walking paths, surfing spots and BBQ areas on the foreshore.

Please exercise your vote to protect Burleigh's Esplanade so that this beautiful beachside precinct remains liveable and enjoyable for residents, Gold Coast locals, and tourists now and into the future. We do not need another Surfers paradise!
