Many students have seen that the new web filtering system Lightspeed is making it harder to get to websites that we need for school work and learning. We know that filtering is necessary to keep us online but some really useful websites are being blocked and that is causing problems. It is slowing down our research. Making it harder to get help with our school work.

We also think that CFISD should think about how educational technology tools like AI can help us. If we use AI in a way it can really help us learn by explaining things summarizing information and giving us good learning resources. We need to be able to use these tools. We also need to make sure we are safe.

We would also like CFISD to review the rules for managing student devices. This includes things, like teachers being able to close tabs freeze screens and control devices from afar. These tools are meant to help with classroom management. We need to make sure that students still feel like we can be trusted and that we have some freedom.

The point of this petition is not to get rid of all the safety rules but to find a balance that works for everyone. We want to be able to learn and have some freedom. We also need to be safe.
