I handed in the petition for Safer Cycling on the A419 to the County Council Budget Meeting on the 13th February.
Last week we were able to confirm that the County Council has contributed funding towards a feasibility study for a segregated cycle route. The £21k investment, through the Stroud Town and Parish Cycling Group is also supported by Stroud Town Council, Brimscombe and Thrupp Parish Council, Stroud Valley Cycle Campaign and Chalford Parish Council.
You can read more about the study and this key stage in the campaign for better cycling in the Stroud News and Journal article.
Thank you again for your support showing the importance of cycling. This is a great step forward - but it's just the beginning. There will be opportunities to engage more as the study moves forward - and we'll continue to need to push for more policy change to support cycling at the County Council.
I hope you will also join us for another mass cycle ride this summer!
Cllr Rachel Smith
County Councillor (Green) for Minchinhampton, Brimscombe and Thrupp, and Chalford
