Introduction:

My name is Brian Aubin. I am a yoga instructor, sound healer, reiki master, advocate for the all abilities community. 

Pursuing a yoga and meditation practice has helped me find peace within myself and a community of people who accept and understand me for who I am. I'm grateful for all I've been through because it made me more resilient. Being able to use my professional and personal experiences to help others with similar challenges has been a great source of joy, reward, and passion for me. 

The Issue:

There have been setbacks in my Mental Health and Recovery because of an incredibly Traumatic incident of Police Brutality that occurred in 2018. The Traumatic incident happened on September 1'st 2018 (Labor Day). The Suffolk County Police stopped me at a mandatory checkpoint and confused my Autism Symptoms, for someone who was under the influence of drugs. I had told them that I was on the Autism Spectrum and had my license and Autism Identification card in my wallet.

While they questioned my sobriety I was actually two and a half years clean of all drugs and alcohol use. The Police Officers at the scene chose to arrest me and forcefully throw me to the ground. When I was waiting in custody, the Police chose to get physical. They smashed my head into a jail cell thus causing to bleed and need stitches. 

The abuse was emotional, psychological, and physical. At the time, I made a request to be sent to Mather Psychiatric Hospital (because I didn't feel safe in their custody). Not only did they refused that request but they continued to refuse other basic requests such as my right to have water.  Their behavior were very abusive, and negligent. The Suffolk County Police came out with a statement saying that I was the one who injured myself in custody in hopes to cover up their actions.

I had severe PTSD from the Police Brutality incident. I have been working through my trauma with a team of psychologist, art therapist, and social workers. Now, my mission and goal is to get mandatory policy in place to prevent abuse in the Autism, Neurodiversity, Mental Health, and Marginalized Communities. This policy should be set in place for all first responders, not just law enforcers. I hope my mission will inspire the World.

I believe that their are people who have the same mission to bring awareness, acceptance, education, information peace, love, compassion, respect, equality, advocacy for the general public to understand the Autism, Neurodiversity, and Mental Health, and Marginalized Communities.

The Legal System, Education System, and all fabrics of government in America are broken. We need to revamp the systems that run this country.   Systems that are designed to protect us should be properly trained in understanding the Autism, Neurodiversity, Mental Health and Marginalized Communities to prevent harmful situations from arising.

We can improve society by treating all individuals with respect. We also can help others by educating ourselves on how to interact with all types of individuals in society. I believe that compassion and awareness brings people together. 

I won the Lawsuit Against The Suffolk County Police and Sheriff's Department on April 26th, 2024!
