Bring back Michael
The Issue
Michael has been a fitness instructor for 25 years, most of this time working at Better gym Conswater and Fitness First before it. He has been completely dedicated to his position and the members of Better Gym. He often coved other instructors classes, meaning he would do 5+ classes a day, rather than let the members down, sometimes at the expense of his own physical health. He offered complimentary programmes like pumpfit which was designed to enhance performance in his pump classes. Michael has suffered from mental health issues and is quite open and honest about his struggles. His open attitude about this difficult and often overlooked subject encouraged members (especially men) to open up and share their experiences which he glady gave his time to listen to. He even set up a Facebook page for these members to connect with each other. This goes far beyond what was expected of him.
His classes were exceptional in standard and he went above an beyond his job role to deliver high impact, challenging workouts for members. His unique style and fun, upbeat attitude made his classes lively, enjoyable and highly popular. His friendly down to earth and familiar approach to members gave the gym a positive atmosphere.
Michael has been dismissed from his position and his subsequent appeal has been unsuccessful. As you will agree the atmosphere in gym is simply not the same without him. Some of his classes have been permanently changed and the ones that are covered are not to the same high standard that we are used to and that Michael would expect. Since Michael's dismissal a substantial number of us are looking into ending our memberships with better and joining alternative gyms as we feel this is a disgraceful way to treat such a loyal, dedicated employee at a time when when he needed support from his employers the most.
Michael's regular class goers are devastated by this turn of events and I personally feel we owe it to him to go above and beyond for him (as he has done for us for so long) and to fight for him.
As Better Gym claim to be community and member focused I believe if we can get enough member signatures they will have no choice to listen to the voice of its members and reinstate Michael. Please sign this petition and share it with your friends. We would love to see Michael back doing what he loves and what we love him for.
