This past Monday showed several Glendora Residents yelling racial slurs, doing the Nazi salute, and as well as grabbing their genitals in front of minors. This behavior is unacceptable in every shape and form. Prejudice is a learned process and no one is born holding prejudiced thoughts. The purpose of this petition is to demand the Glendora Unified School District to have a curriculum addressing issues of racism, teaching what consent is, and addressing the LGBTQ+ community as well. As a GHS alumnus, myself and have lived in Glendora since a toddler I have seen first hand what the lack of proper education and what the consequences of those actions lead to. They lead to students being able to get away with saying racial slurs, grab girls without their consent, and students threatening other students they would beat them up due to their sexual identity. If the Glendora School District truly believed the actions performed by those policemen in Minnesota against George Floyd were wrong, then they will change the current curriculum which only shines a light on a very thin portion of education which only benefits those who benefit from a system of oppression. The change needs to start in the schools for future generations to hold others accountable as well as receiving a great quality education.
