Vow to Unsubscribe from the Glastonbury Citizen

Vow to Unsubscribe from the Glastonbury Citizen
The Issue
Help us address the blatant prejudice within the Glastonbury Citizen by vowing to unsubscribe if editor and owner, Jim Hallas, does not meet our demands for justice.
Recently, the Glastonbury Citizen has published an ignorant editorial on behalf of our organization, Black in Glastonbury. The owner and editor of the Citizen's name is Jim Hallas and he inherited the paper's ownership after his father, Henry Hallas, passed away in 2008.
This is not the first racist offense from the Glastonbury Citizen. Just last July, there was an offensive cartoon published by the same man, Jim Hallas.
In 1999, Jim Hallas was thrown a slander lawsuit for homophobic discourse against another Glastonbury resident, C.J. Mazzochi. In addition, in 1995 he was guilty of sharing newsletters that implied this same man has AIDS.
Clearly, ignorance has been apparent within the Glastonbury Citizen for more than most of us have been alive.
In response to the editorial written this past week, we responded to Jim Hallas with a letter of concern. This letter includes demands in order for Hallas to redeem himself. Here are our demands:
1) Printing a formal apology in The Glastonbury Citizen that demonstrates acknowledgement of the Black in Glastonbury page and its mission.
2) Writing a new informational story on behalf of Black in Glastonbury, possibly an interview or another editorial allowing us to tell our own story.
By you signing this petition, you acknowledge that racism and ignorance is not tolerated in this community and there are consequences.
Thank you so much for your support and please contact BlackInGbury@gmail.com with any further questions. Thank you.
