At a meeting on the 26th February 2020 hundreds of Castlemilk residents expressed concern at the proposals for Castlemilk Braes Shopping Centre. The Main Post Office is closing, and the Braes Shopping Centre has been sold to new owners, the G1 Group, all without public consultation.

We, the undersigned, call on the Council and the G1 group:

1.) To consult fully with the people of Castlemilk and Castlemilk groups on the future of the Shopping Centre 

2.) To ensure the Shopping Centre includes a Post Office, an affordable supermarket with fresh food, and all essential community amenities 

3.) To fully respect the views of Castlemilk people during the planning process

4.) To ensure Shopping Centre staff are treated properly, paid lawfully and not subjected to discrimination

The relationships you build with shopkeepers and those running vital services where you live often act as the social hubs within our community and help to fight isolation and loneliness. When those services go our most vulnerable community members suffer.
