Fastlink Govan - Save the Linthouse Cherry trees.

Fastlink Govan - Save the Linthouse Cherry trees.
The Issue
These stunning trees are valuable to local residents and enjoyed by everyone passing by/coming to the neighbourhood.
They are a moment of natural beauty which this community desperately needs to hang on to. When the new Southern General is in full operation this area will become swamped with traffic.
The trees are on land which once was within the grounds of the historic Elder Park. A large piece of the park was taken to accommodate travel links for the Clyde Tunnel in the 1960's, despite fierce protest.
Now with the imminent arrival of Fastlink it seems 4 Trees are due for the chop. This would be a massive loss for the Govan area.
Evidence of proper consultation with local people on this subject is not readily available. We urge those responsible for the Fastlink project to rethink. It is not clear why 4 precious trees need to be lost.
Questions have not been answered as to the details of how and why this is happening. Proper tree removal procedures have not been guaranteed and the health of the remaining trees has not been ensured.
