Give Women 2 Days of Menstrual Leave Every Month in India

Give Women 2 Days of Menstrual Leave Every Month in India
The Issue
Every month, million of women and girls in India experience painful menstrual cramps, weakness, headaches, and fatigue. Yet, most of them are expected to attend school, college, or work as if nothing is happening.
Periods are natural biological process not a weakness. But the lack of support and understanding forces many women to suffer in silence. Some even risk their health by pushing through severe pain, only because there is no option to rest.
It's time to change this.
We demand the Government of India to introduce a law that grants women at least 2 days of menstrual leave every month, across schools, colleges, and workplaces.
Why this matter:
- Health First : Rest during painful reduces stress and prevents long-terms health issues.
- Better Education: Girls will no longer skip school during their cycle, ensuring equal access to learning.
- Workplace Equality: Women will be more productive and focused when they return, instead of working in pain.
- Breaking Taboos: Recognizing period leave will help normalize conversation about menstruation in India.
Global Inspiration:
Countries like Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, Spain, and Zambia already provide menstrual leave. If they can do it, so can India.
Our call:
We urge the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Labour to take immediate steps to implement 2 days of menstrual leave each month for all women and girls in India.
SIGN THIS PETITION IF YOU BELIEVE WOMEN'S HEALTH MATTERS, AND TOGETHER LET'S MAKE PERIOD LEAVE A REALITY.
