Give The People What They Want- Bring Chili's To Portland!
The Issue
Portland is known as a food hub. You can find a food cart on every street or a new fusion restaurant with that twist you've been looking for. What's missing from all this greatness, you may be wondering? A Chili's. Oregon is only one out of all fifty states that is missing the excitement that is Chili's restaurant. There are Chili’s located in nearly every corner on Earth, yet there is not one here in Portland, Oregon. I know you may be thinking, "There's too many chain restaurants in Portland as it is, why would we want a Chili’s?” While there are many chain restaurants that have food and drink to offer, the ambiance and allure of Chili’s is incomparable.
Arguably the most important reason for a Chili’s; there’s the food. We have all heard at one point or another the classic tune “Chili’s Babyback Ribs” and oh, the ribs they bring. A full rack of ribs for less than thirty dollars, including fries and a side? It’s hard to believe with costs on the rise. Truly, you can’t go wrong with any dish they have, from sliders to chicken crispers to sizzling fajitas.Their food is meant to be shared and enjoyed with friends; a true atmosphere of joy. You’re vegan, you say? No worries! Though the options are sparse now, we boast about our eating-friendly establishments here in the PNW and have room to add more options for animal lovers. Alcohol pairs well with the food selection or, quite frankly, on its own with options like a Tito’s watermelon spritz or a Henny margarita. Not to fret, Chili’s keeps it family friendly with the vast options of non-alcoholic beverages they have. Bring your family to enjoy a meal together, or bring your friends to drink, eat bottomless chips and salsa, and watch a game. Chili’s is a place for the people.
Beyond the food and frills that we know and love of Chili’s, they are also contributors to meaningful causes. The ‘Create-A-Pepper’ campaign raises funds for St.Jude’s Children’s hospital. Even the owner started an initiative called ‘Women Taking the Lead,’ focusing on conversations with women and their leadership skills. The stakes may be low, but we have nothing to lose. Now is the time to act! This country is roint with political turmoil and now, more than ever, we need more reasons to bring people together than to separate them.
