What a Day in Parliament We Had!!

Well what can I say, Wednesday 22nd March is probably a day that none of us will ever forget, but what a day it was for us!
It was a gloomy rainy morning and Sasha, myself and Councillor Jackie Smith headed off to Parliament full of excitement to meet and greet the MP's that had backed and supported our campaign throughout, we were looking forward to meeting our team from Change.org and Anthony Nolan who had supported and worked alongside us throughout our journey.
I personally have never been to Parliament before so was astounded by the beauty of the building itself, we meet the lovely Rima from Change.org and headed towards our venue, we went through a vast amount of security before arriving at our destination where the team from Anthony Nolan had set up in a private room just off Westminster Hall, after Prime Ministers Questions the MP's headed our way and we presented them with a lovely leaflet that we had made with many of your thank you messages inside, the first MP we met with was Mark Tami MP, he had spoken about Sasha and our campaign in the debate that was held in the House of Commons and has a personal connection with us as his son has had a stem cell transplant in the past, it was wonderful having the chance to thank him personally for his involvement in backing our campaigns, we also met David Burrowes MP who also spoke in the debate, it was wonderful being able to meet people who had the power to use our voices and help put the pressure on the Government and NHS England and get them to rethink and change the decision!
Our local MP Teresa Pearce was also there to support us as she has done all the way through this campaign we had a lovely photo with her and gave her our thank you leaflet.
It really was a lovely inspirational day with lots of joy as we were all celebrating the fact that we, with the help of you guys had been able to achieve the impossible!
A very successful and pleasing day with lots of lovely people had been achieved and I couldn't have wished for it to have gone any better.
Unfortunately just as we were leaving, the tragic events of the terrorist attack unravelled in front of the building that we were situated within, it was a very scary experience but we were in good company and were well looked after by the Anthony Nolan team, it was an awfully long day being on lockdown in Parliament but the spirit of people pulling together in such an awful situation was heart-warming, people looking out for each other when the worst possible thing had just happened, just like our campaign the power of people pulling together is amazing and this journey has taught me so much I truly have been humbled!
Our hearts went out to all those who lost their lives or were injured that day, to all their families, we were faced with a situation that we never thought we would ever be in, but humanity at its best was witnessed and it melted my heart!
So all in all, other than the obvious we had an absolutely wonderful day, celebrating, congratulating and connecting with great people! It was very successful and enjoyable and we showed them that the power of people, you guys had an unbelievable strength! They agreed that the people's voices were heard and together we all made the change possible!
Thank you for all the lovely support, for all the lovely messages of concern for our wellbeing on this terrible but also inspirational day! I have grown as a person, witnessing the humanity that has been shown along this wonderful but agonising journey! You are all inspirational people and should be very proud of what we have all achieved, from the bottom of my heart I cannot express how very grateful I am to every single one of you!
