Give MBEs/Knighthoods to the Top Gear Trio (Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, & James May)
The Issue
With Top Gear well over, and the final Grand Tour rapidly approaching, many of us have been reflecting on the impact that the trio has had on our lives.
People from all walks of life, in the UK and from elsewhere, have all been brought together by the unique appeal that these shows have provided. Despite starting out with the aim of making plucky little motoring show, over the years the trio has created a cultural bridge with international reach. Memories of sitting in the living room to watch the latest episode, whether with family, friends, or alone, are familiar to many.
Even outside of Top Gear and The Grand Tour, the standalone shows of each host have had a tremendous reach. James May has found wide appeal across the nation with shows like Toy Stories, and Manlab, Jeremy Clarkson has shed light on the struggles and workings of the farming community - one which previously hadn't seen any proper representation in the media, and Richard Hammond has probably entertained some people.
The point is, this trio, and the shows they present, have cemented themselves in Britains culture and provided major exports for its television; and in a time where there the media is so divisive, it seems apt to immortalise the show that brought so many of us together.
