Give Juniors and Seniors back better dorm options

Give Juniors and Seniors back better dorm options
The Issue
Recently, the University of New Haven made the decision to reassign two prime dorm options, Celentano and Dunham, from upperclassmen to rising sophomores. These dorms are on campus and more affordable than the limited options now available to juniors and seniors.
This change forces upperclassmen to choose from dorms that are either significantly more expensive or
located off campus with one being over a 30-minute walk from campus. Additionally, Celentano is one of the newer, nicer dorms that has traditionally been reserved for upperclassmen.
Upperclassmen are forced to face the consequences of an issue they didn’t even cause. If the university admitted more freshmen than it could reasonably accommodate in their second year, it is beyond unfair to penalize the juniors and seniors who have already contributed years to this institution.
Upperclassmen deserve fair, affordable, and accessible housing options. UNH be prioritize its upperclassmen, not pushing them to the sidelines.
