I am a student in UK, England. I have had to retake my maths GCSE for 3 years now. As everyone knows, after covid-19, the grade boundiries have been rising massively, causing people to fail even if they were 1 or 2 marks off. This is what has happened to me, and i find it stupid to keep rising the boundary just because some students do better than others when we all work the same just at different levels with various career choices. I have met lots of people whos careers were affected by a single number on a piece of paper when they are more capable than what it shows. This is an issue not only in UK but it is a global problem that not many take in consideration. Due to the stress of exams and possibly high grade boundaries, the student's mental health gets worse and looked over. Globally, the exam stress/anxiety for students rises at 40% of students being stressed. Everyone is smart in their own way even if they are not as good at maths or english for example. My goal of this petition if it does get approved is to open up oppurtunities to people with specific career goals where they would need certain subject grades such as maths or english and for other people with a basic amount of knowledge to still be able to pursue a career of their choice without a number deciding their future.
