I, as a recent user of Eharmony, am starting this petition to urge the company to provide its users with the option to cancel their subscriptions without unethical binding contracts. This issue is personal to me because I wanted to date again, with a general curiosity of wanting to see what was really out there in this vast world. After driving from one coast to another, this new environment made me realize how alone I felt, how scary it was that I not only didn’t know anyone, but also, nobody knew me. 

Little did I know that this decision to date again would lead me down a frustrating path. While initially excited about the prospect of finding love or companionship through Eharmony's platform, my experience has been far from satisfactory. 

Unfortunately, it seems that once you sign up for an Eharmony subscription, you are bound by their terms and conditions in an unethical manner.

Most people give in to their horrendous demands after canceling their subscription and just pay whatever fee that was requested. This business schemes in a way where people sign up for said service and are not allowed to cancel their subscription after 3 days, whether you like it or not. The cost is $45.90/month, which equates to approx. $550 a year. Regardless if you utilized them for a month, or only for 2 weeks, they bind you to them, and you are responsible for paying for the entire year, whether you want to or not, or you will be sent to collections. I became one of those victims that was sent to collections.

If you called in an attempt to cancel, their response will be somewhere in the likes of, “We will cancel the auto subscription, however you are still responsible to pay for the remaining amount.” Apparently there is also an annual auto-renewal we weren’t informed about. If this isn’t a form of fraud, I don’t know what is. 

Eharmony was forcing people to pay for “services” that they don’t even provide, they just provide the platform for people to interact. We are all victims that fell under their deception, that their subscriptions cannot be cancelled! Regardless if you like their platform or not, you have to pay them, or face the reality of being sent to collections. This is the standard business practice of Eharmony.

Eharmony does not provide users with a clear and easy option to cancel their subscriptions if they find themselves dissatisfied with the service or unable to continue using it due to various reasons. This lack of flexibility is not only frustrating but also unfair towards individuals who may have valid reasons for wanting or needing out of their subscription.

It is essential for any reputable company operating in today's digital age to prioritize user satisfaction and offer transparent cancellation policies. By denying users the freedom to cancel their subscriptions easily and ethically when they desire so, Eharmony creates an atmosphere of distrust between itself and its customers.

To support this petition further, let us consider some relevant facts:

1) According to a survey conducted by Consumer Reports in 2019 on online dating platforms' customer satisfaction rates, many users expressed frustration over difficulties faced while trying to cancel subscriptions.

Given these facts and the personal experiences of many users like myself, it is evident that Eharmony should take immediate action to rectify this issue. I urge Eharmony to prioritize user satisfaction by implementing a clear and ethical cancellation policy that allows users to cancel their subscriptions hassle-free.
