Give Donors the Choice on How Their Donations to Sumejja's GoFundMe Are Spent
The Issue
Divorce can impact families in unimaginable and often financially devastating ways. For us, it is no different. Sumejjas mother is asking to keep half of the funds garnered through a GoFundMe set up for Sumejja for her own use. We believe donors should have a say on how their hard-earned money is spent.
Donations are all about trust: that the money will be used as presented. According to a survey by the Public Interest Registry, 68.7% of potential donors want to know how their donation will be used before they complete the donation (Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network, 2018).
Our goal is to maintain this trust and ensure transparency by proposing that the donors to Sumejja’s GoFundMe be allowed to decide whether to keep the funds solely for her as intended and not allow the money to be used as pleased by her mother.
We understand that these are difficult times, but every penny is crucial and we want it to be spent as the donors intended. This petition is to confirm that money should solely belong to Sumejja for her expenses.

Vjerujemo da bi donatori trebali reći kako se troši njihov teško zarađeni novac.
Sve donacije se odnose na povjerenje: da će novac biti iskorišten kako je predstavljen. Prema istraživanju Registra javnog interesa, 68,7% potencijalnih donatora želi znati kako će se njihova donacija koristiti prije nego što završe donaciju (Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network, 2018).
Naš cilj je da zadržimo ovo povjerenje i osiguramo transparentnost tako što predlažemo da se donatorima Sumejjinog GoFundMe-a omogući da odluče da li će sredstva zadržati samo za nju kako je predviđeno i ne dozvoliti da se novac koristi po želji njene majke.
