On February 27, 2020, Girl Scout members in Southern Illinois received an email that they would be closing all 4 of our local Girl Scout camps. This would close Camps Chan Ya Ta, Torqua, Butterfly and Wassatoga. Leaders and Service Unit leadership were blindsided. We are in for an uphill battle, but we won't let these camps be sold out from under us as we sit quietly. We are Girl Scouts and we stand up for what we believe in. As we organize our thoughts for future actions, we want to start this petition to show council how many people are being affected by this. When my daughter attends camp Butterfly with our troop this summer, she will be the 3rd generation of our family to enjoy that camp. Girl Scout camp has brought us so much joy and created so many memories. When signing, please share how closing the camps impacts you or your troop.
