Medical internship programmes for MBBS students is pretty heavy in Government medical colleges inMaharashtra.

Interns in many instances work on emergency duties on weekly, sometimes bi-weekly basis on shifts that can very easily last more than 24-28 hours, sometimes it can reach bone breaking 48 hours of emergency duty, be it for emergency treatment for medical and surgical casualty patients, conducting deliveries or for urgent lab work.

Maharastra had the highest student fees for government medical colleges across India(₹78,000 annually ) last year and has been on a steady rise every year and yet they pay their inerns the lowest(₹6000/month) that too not paid on time.

With reference to last years protestsin April - May 2018, state medical education minister Mr Girish Mahajan promised us a 40 percent hike in stipend but that too has not come into fruition. It was nothing more than an empty promise.

Please do support this petition to help out all medical interns in Maharastra and make the state government pay heed to our demands.
