Facemask Covering for School children
The Issue
Dear Parents,
It has come to my concern that my daughter Annie Chen (Year 4) has been told she was not allowed to wear a facemask in Gilmore Junior School. Here are a few points on why I believe facemasks should be worn and is also a choice as a parent
1. Liverpool has at least two primary schools that allow students to wear facemasks, and students are free to choose without restriction. The following information is the primary schools:
- St Margaret primary school L6 4BX Tel:01512605522
- Monksdown primary school L11 1HH Tel: 01512261606
2. The government’s policy is that students in high school are required to wear facemasks in class and students below primary school do not need to wear masks. The government does not prohibit primary school students from wearing masks. We citizens and parents have the right to choose whether our own children to wear face masks in class as much as possible to protect them from of the Covid 19.
3. The students in year 4 has been put into isolation there has been cases of Covid 19 in their year group.
4. In our family, Annie's grandmother and I both have underlying issues. I have just completed gastroscopy and need long-term drug treatment. Her grandmother has hypertension which requires to take high blood pressure drugs. Blood pressure is monitored every day. Both of us are patients who need long-term medication and are categorized in vulnerable groups. Suppose my daughter Annie goes to school without protective measures and is infected with the Covid 19. Bringing back Covid 19 to us will have serious consequences.
5. I instructed and taught Annie how to use the mask correctly according to strict regulations and she is confident wearing a facemask. Annie will be wearing a 3-ply facemask which can prevent any harmful water particles passing through to protect herself and others
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to the school principal and teachers for their hard work and work to the children! We understand that the responsibility of the principal is to maintain school order and protect children from the Covid 19. As a mother, I also have a responsibility to ensure that I send my children back to school to study safely and happily! Hope you can understand!
Thank You All
