As Gettysburg College students, tradition has always been an important factor instilled in us the moment we stepped foot on campus. Our first ceremony freshman year we walked through Penn Hall from one side to the other to start our time at Gettysburg, with the knowledge that in 4 years we would walk back through to commence our time at Gettysburg College. During those 4 years, we grew accustomed to the Gettysburg lifestyle and looked forward to the days when we could be Seniors living off-campus. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic took away a great deal of the typical Gettysburg experience. We understand and recognize the new changes that come with the pandemic, but the off-campus Senior experience was one sense of normalcy that we were hoping to get back. Additionally, the landlords rely on us to make their living. Some of these landlords are even alumni who recognize the importance of living off-campus in their time at Gettysburg and wanted to aid current and future students in this opportunity. Our time at Gettysburg has already been hindered by the pandemic, please allow us this opportunity to regain traditional Gettysburg experiences.
