I respectfully urge the council to remove the Flock Safety cameras from our community. Public safety is important, but it should never come at the cost of the privacy and freedoms of every law-abiding resident.

These cameras don't just capture suspected criminals—they record the movements of everyone who drives by. Over time, that creates a detailed record of where people live, work, worship, receive medical care, and spend their time. Innocent people should not be treated as though they are under constant surveillance simply because they use public roads.

History has shown that when governments collect large amounts of personal data, the potential for misuse grows. Even with safeguards, no system is immune from abuse, unauthorized access, or expanded use beyond its original purpose. Once this type of surveillance becomes normal, it is difficult to limit.

Our Constitution protects individual liberty and places limits on government power. We should be cautious about adopting technologies that allow widespread monitoring of ordinary citizens without individualized suspicion.

There are better ways to improve public safety. Investing in officers, community partnerships, youth programs, mental health services, and crime prevention efforts strengthens neighborhoods while respecting the rights of the people those programs are meant to protect.

I ask the council to choose transparency, accountability, and the protection of civil liberties. Please remove the Flock cameras and demonstrate that our community values both safety and freedom.
