Many video game soundtracks have been selected for the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry. Such examples include 1985’s Super Mario Bros’ Overworld Theme by Koji Kondo (Inducted in 2023), the Soundtrack for 1993’s Doom by Bobby Prince (Inducted in 2026), and Daniel Rosenfeld’s soundtrack for the 2011 game Minecraft (Inducted in 2025). Angry Birds is arguably the biggest mobile game of all time and has started the mobile gaming boom. The iconic theme composed by Ari Pulkkinen perfectly captures the cartoonish tone of the original Angry Birds and their battle against the pigs to get their eggs back. This recording is recognizable from the first few seconds alone by all ages and generations. All in all, the theme song for Angry Birds should be in the National Recordings Registry for its cultural significance, capturing the cartoony and playful tone of the game, and being instantly recognizable to all generations.
