Our Dear People,
June 5, 2025, marks three months since Teejay was tragically taken from us. Time has moved quickly, yet each day without him deepens our sorrow and pain. Our hearts still wish RIP could mean “Return If Possible.” Alas, Teejay, the genius, is forever gone from us! Your signatures and solidarity have helped us stay strong. We remain committed to pursuing justice in Teejay’s name.
As part of these efforts, a formal petition by our Counsel, Nureni Jimoh, SAN has been submitted to the Attorney General of the Federation / Minister of Justice, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State, the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, the Chairman of the Public Complaint Commission, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, the Commissioner of Police, and the Inspector General of Police. Please find the petition attached.
Court Update – Commissioner of Police v. Abiola Adams-Odutayo
On May 28, 2025, the case resumed in court. The defendant was present. Lagos State officially took over the prosecution, represented by O.S. Okuwobi. The defence team included Olajide Onasanya and O. Omoyeni, while Akinkunmi Iyanda and Princess Omosuyi appeared to watch the interest of the nominal complainant.
A new one-count charge, as advised by the office of the DPP, was read, and the defendant pleaded not guilty. The case was adjourned to July 9, 2025. The updated charge sheet is attached.
Although we were surprised that, despite the overwhelming available evidence, the Defendant was charged with the offence stated in the charge sheet, for in the eyes of the law, a manslaughter charge is more commensurate with the crime committed. Notwithstanding, we believe that the Nigerian judiciary will serve justice. In God we trust—we will not give up. Thank you for standing with us.
The truth will prevail.
