Get San Carlos Karen off of the streets for road-rage/hate crime assaulting 27 year old

The Issue

"San Carlos Karen" has recently been involved in a road-rage/hate crime incident that resulted in the assault of a 27-year-old individual, Kimberly Milagros Cano, Peruvian-American resident of San Mateo County. This behavior is unacceptable and should not be tolerated in our community. Kimberly had just dropped her daughters off at daycare, ages 2 1/2 and 1 1/2. She was on her way to her job at a local Elementary School in the San Carlos District.

According to eyewitnesses, San Carlos Karen became enraged while driving and began to follow Kimberly down Holly St. in San Carlos after she allegeded that she didn't come to a stop. Kimberly did come to a complete stop and she noticed this individual speeding down attempting to purposefully hit her. The event was premeditated and San Carlos Karen seeked to harm Kimberly from the start. She then proceeded to follow Kimberly to her job and cornered her on a residential street. Kimberly got out of her scared and San Carlos Karen began screaming at the top of her lungs. The situation escalated quickly, and San Carlos Karen  screamed, "I hate people like you!" and physically assaulted the victim, causing hits to the head on to her car, sprained arm and back. San Carlos Karen recorded herself beating Kimberly the entire time.

This type of hate crime is not only illegal but also contributes to a culture of fear and intolerance. It is important that we take action to hold San Carlos Karen accountable for her actions and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

We call on local law enforcement officials to thoroughly investigate this incident and prosecute San Carlos Karen to the fullest extent of the law. We are asking for commnity members to spread the word so that her employer be notified of the attack. We are asking for her phone to be confiscated and all images and hateful videos of the attack be given to the police. We also urge community members to speak out against hate crimes and work towards creating a more inclusive environment for all individuals.

Kimberly is now on leave from work to recover from the attack. She has been treated and discharged from the hospital. The trauma this causes is something that will take time to heal. Kimberly has a history of PTSD+Anxiety from her childhood and this attack has none the less triggered all of those feelings. Together, we can send a clear message that hate crimes will not be tolerated in our community. Let's stand up for what is right and demand justice for the victim of this senseless act of violence.
