Get rid of the 'skipping' law!

The Issue

I think it should be legal for people to go 'skipping' or 'dumpster diving'. In 2013, Tesco admitted to wasting 28,500 tones in the first 6 months of the year. If you take food from the bins it is classed as 'theft' but really aren't they the ones stealing from us? This could have been given to food banks or other places to help and feed people. There are people in this world that aren't surviving due to malnourishment, this could be helped by allowing people to look in the food filled bins and get what they need. All the supplies are being sent to landfill and are going to be wasted so why not let the struggling people have them instead. This means less waste, less malnourished people and less greenhouse gas emissions. The supermarkets aren't going to be losing any money. If we came together and got rid of this law we could save so many people. The food that is wasted is being sent to landfill, this generates methane which is a very potent greenhouse gas - this is causing climate change. Food waste creates more greenhouse gases than the airline industry! Food production is responsible for 26% of global greenhouse gas emissions; 6% of this is from food waste. This is wrong and needs to be changed. So many people have been prosecuted because they had to take a couple of bread rolls from a bin to feed themselves and their families (they had no other choice). Please help get rid of this law! We can do this but we need to do it together! Sign the petition today!
