Whereas; as real people aren't just a numbers game of appeal point values these characters shouldn't be either and the diversity point scales even exclude some forms of diversity like disability (meaning for those who claim this means PoC characters can't have any other "diversity") Symmetra's autism already proves them wrong

Whereas; if it's not done by who's the most in need of representation (which would have to mean not using it to pit characters against each other in that particular way) some of the point values might seem rather arbitrary especially compared to each other and that could reflect itself toxicly into the player base's attitudes toward real people based on "how they rank on the scale'

Whereas; with the other scandals surrounding them and how many memes this particular issue has generated it's gotten to the point where even pushing up (if it's ready) the release date of Overwatch 2 or even making an Overwatch lore cartoon might not be able to overcome the negative publicity they've been getting one right after another in these past few months. Getting rid of that diversity point scale would be a step in the right direction that doesn't look as performative as changing the cowboy's name

Whereas; this could set a precedent for other game companies, not just having a diversity scale but thinking that certain things like age count as a diversity and things like mental illness the scale doesn't cover don't and the whole representation landscape of the gaming industry would be affected.

Whereas; just like letting themselves get bought by Microsoft or putting any hypothetical lore cartoon behind a streaming paywall, the idea that people can only be so diverse (in addition to limiting hero design space e.g. as a queer plus-size Jewish woman any self-insert I'd want to pitch would break their scale) seems very antithetical to the message the lore seems to push and could almost prove Blizzard hypocrites.

Therefore; Blizzard should get rid of their diversity space method for Overwatch (and anything else they'd use it on)
