Get Rid Of The Block Schedule at United Local Schools
The Issue
Staff and students at United Local Schools in Hanoverton, OH have voiced their concerns through opinion forums, clearly stating that we do not want or find the new block schedule helpful. Despite this overwhelming feedback, our opinions seem to have been completely ignored. The rotating schedule has been a staple of our school system, providing flexibility and variety that benefits both teaching and learning experiences.
Switching to a block schedule disrupts this balance and imposes longer class periods that can lead to decreased student engagement and increased burnout for both students and teachers. Studies show that longer class periods in block schedules can negatively impact student performance (National Education Association). We urge the school administration to listen to the voices of those directly affected by these changes.
