Get rid of Jetty Jacks in the Bosque to help Albuquerque Fire Rescue.

Get rid of Jetty Jacks in the Bosque to help Albuquerque Fire Rescue.
The Issue
Since 1940 the Rio Grande River has been home to an unquantifiable number of Jetty Jacks. These large crossed metal barriers were put in place to protect property along the river from floods as well as loss of sediment. The Jacks served their purpose of preventing excess flood damage and loss of river banks. But that use case has been long gone. The river is quite a bit tamer thanks to the damming of the Rio Grande and never floods anymore. U.S. Fish and Wildlife also agree that there is no longer a necessity for Jetty Jacks.
It's time to get rid of the Jetty Jacks so the Bosque can reclaim those portions of land back. Along with habitat restoration, the removal of the Jacks will allow Albuquerque Fire Rescue to access fires within the Bosque without as many hindrances.
There is no negative to the removal of Jetty Jacks. Better for the Bosque. Better for Albuquerque Fire Rescue. Better for Albuquerque.
