Why this petition matters

Started by Rhonda Brandow

This petition is to help bring police back to Ontario high schools.  TDSB has decided to no longer keep police posted within their schools, which from my understanding then trickled down to our area and the TVDSB, which has pulled police off the premises due to parents/students being uncomfortable. There has be a huge incline of bullying, harassment and violence since, within the student body.  Parents and kids have increasing concerns about the schools ability to handle the situations that continue to reoccur.  Our kids should not fear going to school, but the fact is many refuse to attend due to the increased violence.

Kids are being stocked and harassed within the school then being followed home.  Kids are waiting with their phones to record a planned "jump" (the students term) on the school grounds and posting the videos all over social media.  Kids are bringing weapons to school for these planned fights or to try and protect themselves against fellow peers.  Abhorrent sexual accusations and racism in all forms. Parents cant even pick up their kids at the end of the day without their cars being surrounded by kids yelling threats. The list literally goes on and on. It's just the tip of the iceberg and it's beyond ridiculous. The school boards "no bullying policy" is a joke for lack of better words.

Kids are being physically and mentally beaten down.  Parents are left trying to figure out how to keep their child safe from self harm, due to the constant torment.  It is absolutely appalling what these kids have to deal with day after day just to attend school, and parents are getting zero resolutions.

With the presence of police, it brings in the hopes that some of these incidents can be deescalated before serious harm is done.  To bring a level of comfort to both students and faculty.  To bring reassurance to parents that their is an advocate for their child.
