Hello! I am Sasha Scherer, a student of the Cornwall Central School District who's lived in this town for my whole 17, almost 18, years of life. As I aged into my teenage years, I began to search for things to keep me occupied. Unfortunately, our town has little to no recreational activities for teenagers my age. This is why I'm here to talk to you about this town's pitiful transportation. Those who are not old enough to drive or cannot drive for one reason or another are practically stuck in this town. We have to rely on others to drive us to places as trying to walk or ride a bike out of town is very dangerous due to the highways that surround our area. This is why I'm asking, nay BEGGING, the town to please add some more public transportation. Public transport would greatly benefit the town by stimulating the economy, improving safety, lessen traffic, lessen drunk driving, reduce pollution caused by cars, and give those without cars a chance to actually get around. Also, bored teenagers commit the most crimes, so giving teens a way to explore outside of the town will reduce crime rates AND keep them off of drugs. Can't do drugs when you can explore other towns. 9W is a very dangerous highway, so nervous teens forced to drive wont feel so unsafe with public transportation. This town is miserable for young folks and I am sick of it. This town doesn't just house old people. Hey, there IS a senior bus that goes to Munger cottage! We should extend those things to everybody as well! Public transportation in general would greatly improve our little Hudson Valley town. I like this town, but it's hard to love when the needs of the people aren't being met. There is a demand for this kind of thing, which I can prove by showing you the signatures on this petition.
