Ororo Munroe, known as Storm, is an Omega-level mutant and an iconic member of the X-Men. Created by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum, she made her debut in Giant-Size X-Men #1 in May 1975. With her extraordinary abilities to control weather patterns, manipulate the elements, and fly, Storm has become a crucial and beloved character in the Marvel Universe. However, in the game Marvel Rivals, Storm has been continuously marginalized in skin-lines where she has been iconic in the comics. Her character kit in the game feels basic and lacks the depth and creativity she deserves. While other characters enjoy a variety of skins, Storm has only seen the release of two shop skins in the span of two years. To add insult to injury, both she and Black Panther did not receive their rightful "legendary" rarity status for their wedding skins. Particularly troubling is the fact that Storm is the only female character in the game to have an epic rather than a legendary rarity for her swimsuit edition skin. Notably, she is also the only black woman featured in the game. This disparity not only undermines Storm's iconic status but also highlights an unsettling pattern of neglecting characters of color in the game design and content updates. The fan base is disappointed and the backlash is intensifying by the hour. It is critical for Marvel Rivals to address these grievances and demonstrate their commitment to honoring all characters equally. We urge Marvel Rivals to retroactively elevate Storm's swimsuit special skin to legendary rarity. This action will not only correct the oversight but will also showcase the developers' respect for Storm’s legacy.
