I am a student at Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA), and like many of my peers, I face a daily struggle—a lack of adequate parking spaces on campus. The existing parking facilities simply do not meet the growing needs of our student body. The result—students are forced to park on the grassy areas which leads to receiving parking tickets. The frustration is real especially when you consider that we’ve paid for a parking pass and yet are coerced into paying additional fines due to nonexistent parking spots.

Currently, purchasing a $50 parking pass should ensure that we have a dedicated parking spot, not leave us gambling for a spot or accumulate additional fees since we had no choice but to park in non-designated areas. The problem has only increased with more students enrolling each year without a proportional increase in available parking facilities.

Students like myself are being financially burdened unjustly. LSUA must prioritize investing in new parking lots to accommodate the increasing number of students. The construction of a new parking facility would drastically reduce the number of parking tickets issued, alleviate student stress, and ultimately create a better environment conducive to learning without distractions.
