This past year, Iowa City West as had unprecedented success on the debate circuit. From winning the State title for the fourth year in the row to semifinaling the Tournament of Champions, the most prestigious tournament in America, Iowa City West has made it clear that they are a team to be reckoned with. Beyond competitive success, West is also a beacon of inclusivity in the debate space, sending the first ever black debater to semifinals in the TOC. Our coach resigned at the end of July, and though we have had multiple applicants, no one has been hired yet. Without a head coach, Iowa City West won’t be able to attend any tournaments this year and continue on their path of success.
