Get Gant Out!

The Issue

I, like many of you, have been affected by the poor decision-making skills of Cllr Andrew Gant, particularly those related to transportation. His dismissive attitude toward public consultation and neglect of public involvement in the decision process has had severe consequences on our community. His continuous disregard for our voices is an indication that he is not fit for public office.

For instance, he has ignored the outcome of the public consultations. He continues to disregard the people's opinions and needs, highlighting his unwillingness to serve the public, which is vital to his role as a councillor.

  • Cllr Gant has deliberately withheld vital information concerning delays to Botley Road and Oxford Railway station.
  • Failed to engage or represent the local community and residents
  • Failed to deliver a transportation scheme that is supported by local businesses and the majority of Oxford city residents
  • Approved over £17 million on unwanted transportation schemes to the detriment of other parts of the county.
  • Created dangerous junctions including the Newman Road junction and increased levels of pollution and congestion in residential areas.

This autocratic approach to governance has led to a growing detachment between the public and the council when we should be working together to ensure a vibrant and thriving community. We need a councillor who values public input, champions transparency, and prioritizes the community's welfare.

Therefore, we petition for the removal of Cllr Andrew Gant from his public office for transport. To rebuild trust in the council and improve outcomes for our community, we need leaders who are accountable, responsive, and committed to public involvement. This is the mission of the Independent Oxford Alliance, a party I am proud to represent as a Councillor on Oxford City Council. With your help and support, we can all work towards making a positive change to how Oxfordshire County Council is run. Please add your support and sign this petition.

A petition of 1,500 signatures would trigger a debate at full council on whether to remove Cllr Gant.
