Get Foundational Black Americans recognized as an ethnicity

Get Foundational Black Americans recognized as an ethnicity
The Issue
We demand that the U.S. Census Bureau and federal agencies recognize Foundational Black Americans (FBA) as a distinct ethnic group.
FBA refers to the descendants of Black people enslaved in the United States before the Civil War — a group that has a unique cultural legacy, historical struggle, and political reality that is not the same as Black immigrants from Africa, the Caribbean, or other regions.
Yet today, FBA people are lumped into the generic category of “Black or African American,” which hides our specific data, erases our history, and limits access to policies designed for our people.
We believe:
✅ FBA should be an ethnic identifier under the Black racial category
✅ Reparations, affirmative action, and justice programs should be targeted specifically based on lineage
✅ We deserve the same recognition that Latino, Asian, and Native American subgroups receive
We are not asking to divide — we are asking to be counted accurately and treated fairly based on our foundational status in this country.
Join us in demanding the inclusion of “Foundational Black American” on all U.S. federal forms, including the census, school applications, medical forms, and demographic surveys.
