Dir en Grey is a japanese metal formed in Osaka, Japan in 1998. Since their debut, their discography has covered a vast majority of genres, including rock, gothic rock, alternative metal, nu-metal, avant garde metal and other extreme metal varieties. Due to their experimental and continuously changing sound, they have been blacklisted from the site https://www.metal-archives.com/ after fans' consistent attempts to get them listed. 

After their album, Dum Spiro Spero (2011) was released, however, they have chosen a more traditionally metal approach to their songwriting, rendering them deserving of a spot in metal's biggest online thesaurus.
