"Cold Case" was an American police procedural crime drama television series that aired on CBS from September 28, 2003-May 2, 2010. The series revolved around a fictionalized Philadelphia Police Department division that specialized in investigating cold cases. The division was led by Lieutenant John Stillman with Detective Lilly Rush, Detective Scotty Valens, Detective Nick Vera, Detective Will Jeffries, and Detective Kat Miller working the cases that had went cold. Every episode focused on one specific case. The show was popular for its “double casting” where two actors played a single character at different points in time, such as when the incident originally took place and in the present time. The show explored and brought forward many social issues related to 20th-century history in America including racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, abortion, and police brutality, among others.

The show quickly came popular on the CBS Sunday night schedule and at its height had consistently over 15 millions viewers. Unfortunately, due to the Writers Guild of America Strike in 2007-2008 the show saw a big decline in viewership. To make matters worse, CBS made the decision to move the show from its regular 9pm slot to a new 10pm slot which also hurt viewership. Ultimately, on May 18th, 2010, CBS announced the cancellation of the series after seven seasons and 156 episodes. To make matters worse, the final episode of Season 7 ended with several cliffhangers much like the final episode of every season did.

Despite its cancellation, Cold Case had amassed a huge fan base. Even though the show has been off the air for over 10 years now, there are many out there who would love to see a reboot of this fantastic show. Not only to answer all of the questions that were left at the end of Season 7, but to bring back together a fantastic cast for one final run of a great show.
