As of July 2020, the German Federal Police have allowed for all third nationals to enter Germany for essential purposes: education, work or family reunification: https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/pressemitteilungen/EN/2020/07/anpassung-einreisebschraenkungen-drittstaaten-en.html

However, the Visa Section at the German embassy in Cairo is still closed and refuse to process any kind of Visa applications even if it is urgent.  This bizarre situation cannot be understood in light of reopening other EU embassies their Visa section for essential travelling. And reopening of German embassies in other areas in the world that the pandemic situation considered to be relatively higher than Egypt, ex: India.

There are people who need to start their semesters, to start their work for economic necessity and others who need to be reunited with their families. Despite all the emails, all the calls and demands to consider urgent applications at the embassy or at least to give an estimated timing to reopen. The situation of the embassy is still ignoring all the demands of Egyptian and German citizens. 

We demand the immediate consideration of reopening the Visa Section at the German embassy in Cairo as soon as possible.
