The Issue

We are hundreds of Indian students whose dreams of studying in Germany are on the verge of collapse. After working tirelessly to secure admissions in prestigious German universities, we now face an administrative nightmare: a sudden and catastrophic delay in student visa processing at the Delhi Visa Application Centre that threatens to derail our futures entirely.

In late May 2025, the official German visa portal changed our estimated wait times overnight, without any warning or explanation. Timelines that were a manageable 2-6 months skyrocketed to an impossible "approx. more than 1 year." The new online system, which was promised to make things more efficient, has instead created an unprecedented bottleneck. At the current pace, where only applications from early March are being processed, it is a certainty that the vast majority of us will miss our university start dates for the Fall 2025 semester.

This is not just an inconvenience; it's a crisis with devastating human and financial costs. We have invested our life savings, paid non-refundable tuition fees, and transferred over €11,208 (approx. ₹10 Lakhs) each into mandatory blocked accounts. All of this is now at risk. We stand to lose our hard-won university places, our scholarships, and an entire academic year. The complete silence from the authorities has left us feeling helpless and desperate, making many students vulnerable to fraudulent consultants who exploit our situation for financial gain.

Our repeated pleas for clarity and help have been met with a wall of silence. The German Embassy in New Delhi, VFS Global, and the online portal's support have offered no real answers, simply telling us to "follow a process" that is clearly and fundamentally broken.

We are not just numbers on a waitlist; we are the future engineers, researchers, and innovators who chose Germany for its world-class education. We urge the German authorities to acknowledge this severe crisis, provide transparent and realistic timelines, and immediately allocate the necessary resources to clear this backlog before our academic dreams are lost forever.

Please sign this petition to demand immediate action. Your signature sends a powerful message that our futures matter. Help us get to our universities.
